    scaput - Simple Channel Access Command Line Put

SYNOPSIS
    scaput channel_name value [channel_name value]...
    
    scaput <name_value_list

DESCRIPTION

Launched with command line arguments

scaput sets the values of the IOC channels whose channel name and value pairs
are on the command line.  Only one value may be specified per channel.  Hence,
puts to waveforms where more than the first element are to be set must be done
with the names and values on standard input as described below.
Compound values must be quoted.  For example,

	scaput y_offset.DESC "Default Value!" y_offset.VAL 1.234

Launched without command line arguments

scaput sets the values of the IOC channels whose channel names and values
are specified on standard input.  For example,

	scaput <test_data

Format of standard input

The channel name and value specifications on standard input are as follows

	1. The channel name at the beginning of a line followed by the value(s)
	   on the same line or on continuation lines using backslash at the end
	   of a line to indicate that it is continued on the next line.
	2. Names and values are space and/or tab delimited.
	4. Compound values and values which are empty strings must be quoted
	   using double quotes.
	5. Empty lines are ignored.
	6. Lines with # in column 1 are comments.

CONSIDERATIONS

The maximum number of values that can be put to a waveform is 1024.

When there is just one value to be put to a channel or if any one value
does not look like a fixed decimal number, the put is done as type SCA_STRING.

When there is more than one fixed decimal value to be put, the values are
converted to doubles and the put is done as type SCA_DOUBLE in order
to reduce network load.

Puts to waveforms with more values than NELM of the IOC record fail to
set any values.
